Denver placekicker Brandon McManus announced Tuesday that he has been released by the Broncos.
The team later confirmed.
McManus was set to make almost $5M in 2023. His cut will incur $2,462,500 in dead money for Denver and will free up $2,518,750 in cap space.
McManus is the second leading scorer in Broncos history, behind kicker Jason Elam. He won Super Bowl L with the team in 2015 against the Carolina Panthers.
McManus had his worst statistical season as a pro in 2022, going 28/36 (77.8%) on field goals (34th among qualifying kickers). Five of those misses were from 50+ yards. He was 25-27 (92.6%) on extra points.
His kickoff and touchback numbers are irrelevant since pretty much everything in the NFL will start from the 25 now as the league continues its attempts to make the game as boring as possible.
